White Hat/Black Hat- 1/07/2007
Finally a web term with some style! White Hat/Black Hat refers to the
two ways of attracting favorable listings in search engines. Black Hat techniques include hidden
text and misleading Meta tags whereas White Hat stays within the confines of traditional efforts
with carefully selected copy, hand submitted inclusion requests, well-researched keywords and
pay placement. Though Black Hatting might be tempting, remember that programmers at Google and
elsewhere are pretty darn smart and have no problem pulling a Black Hatted site, as they did to BMW’s a couple of years ago.
